1st Year Fellows

Dr. Barbaro

Michael Barbaro, MD

Michael Barbaro received his MD from the Keck School of Medicine at USC and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at John Peter Smith Health Network. Mike is interested in hospital level throughput and the use of machine learning to predict and improve efficiency, operational analytics, informatics infrastructure, and health care data exchange.

Dr. Blebea

Catherine Blebea, MD

Catherine Blebea received her MD from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and completed her residency in internal medicine also at the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently a pulmonary and critical care fellow at UCSF and is completing the clinical informatics fellowship concurrently. Cat's interests include digital health innovation, quality improvement, and EHR workflows, particularly in the ICU.

Dr. Fadairo-Azinge

Abimbola Fadairo-Azinge, MBBS

Abimbola Fadairo-Azinge received her MBBS from the Oba Okunade Sijuade College of Health Sciences in Nigeria and completed her residency at Columbia Affiliated Harlem Hospital Center. She is concurrently a Rheumatology Fellow at UCSF. Abi has interests in health care access, quality improvement and EMR workflows.

 

Dr. Flanagan

Colleen Flanagan, MD

Colleen Flanagan received her MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She is currently a Vascular Surgery resident at UCSF and is completing the Clinical Informatics Fellowship concurrently. Colleen has academic interests in using digital tools such as NLP to improve vascular surgery care and in the implementation of health information technology.

Dr. Pourian

Jessica Pourian, MD

Jessica Pourian received her MD from UC San Diego and completed her pediatrics residency at Hasbro Children's Hospital / Brown University in Rhode Island. Jessica is interested in optimizing informatics solutions for physician workflows and LGBT health, and in using large language models to augment clinical decision support.

Dr. Subramanian

Charumathi Raghu Subramanian, MBBS

Charumathi Raghu Subramanian received her MBBS from I.R.T. Perundurai Medical College in India and completed her residency in internal medicine at Guthrie Robert Packer hospital, PA. She has since been working as a hospitalist, including most recently at UCSF. Charu's academic interests include data science, clinical decision support, artificial intelligence and LLMs and how these can be applied to healthcare.

Adrian Tomes, MD

Adrian Tomes received his MD from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and is a graduate of Family and Community Medicine Residency at Hennepin Healthcare. Adrian is interested in telehealth, healthcare equity, physician wellbeing, quality improvement, clinical decision support, and EHR workflows.

Karen Trang, MD

Karen Trang received her MD from Stanford Medical School. She is currently a General Surgery resident at UCSF and is completing the Clinical Informatics Fellowship concurrently. She has academic interests in colorectal surgery and human - computer interaction.

Timothy Wen, MD

Timothy Wen received his MD from the Keck School of Medicine at USC and is concurrently a Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellow at UCSF. Tim has interests in the use of informatics in obstetric care for risk prediction, data collection and optimization, and postpartum readmission reduction.
